Rising Star Elementary participates in the Accelerated Reading program through Renaissance Place. The students, teacher, and librarian set reading goals and read to reach that goal. Students are recognized in the awards ceremony each six weeks for exceptional progress toward their AR goals and those students reaching their yearly goal participate in a fun field trip at the end of the school year. The elementary library contains over 6000 titles including reference, fiction, nonfiction, biographies, and easy fiction. The library also has a video collection and internet access. An exciting addition to the library is the Tandberg 880
distance learning lab which is available for virtual field trips,
community, faculty, and school board training.
